Workshop: The Emerging Economies of Africa: Lessons from Pre-Industrial Europe

Chair: Austin Monday

The emerging economies of Africa are bastardised by political rogues and hijackers whose political leaders do not want to play according to the rule. Most countries with enormous natural and human resources are unable to evolve an acceptable democracy.

The Bachelet model in Chile pioneered by Chilean President Ms Michelle Bachelet promises to be a different kind of leadership which she called "CITIZENS' DEMOCRACY" of greater participation.

I think this model laced with Europe's pre-industrial age deliberate policies that saw Europe’s transformation will fast track the development of Africa.
